A Birthday Celebration of Kindness: Spreading Sukoon One Meal at a Time

birthday celebration

On April 1, 2025, the ISCI Foundation witnessed a celebration unlike any other—one that redefined what birthdays can mean. While most people mark the day with personal festivities, one kind soul decided to celebrate by giving. On this special day, Kayra, a compassionate donor, chose to transform her birthday into a celebration of giving, hope, and humanity.

In alignment with ISCI Foundation's SUKOON Initiative, Kayra sponsored the distribution of 25 nutritious food packets to underprivileged children living in the slums of Gwalior. Through this simple yet powerful gesture, she became a beacon of kindness—bringing smiles to little faces and warmth to countless hearts.

A Birthday With a Purpose

Kayra’s intention was clear: to use her birthday as an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone else’s life. Her generous donation of food packets provided not only nourishment but also the emotional comfort that someone out there cares.

The birthday celebration was carried out with the utmost warmth and care. ISCI Foundation’s Director, Mr. Mohit Modi, along with our committed volunteers Ankita, Kartik, Rishav, Aryan, and Rimjhim, joined hands to ensure that each food packet was delivered personally and thoughtfully. Their enthusiasm and dedication turned this day into a celebration not only for Kayra but for the many children whose day was made brighter.

The Power of Food and Compassion

Food is not just sustenance—it is a symbol of care, stability, and dignity. In many marginalized communities, even a single meal can be a rare comfort. Kayra’s birthday initiative reflects the core belief of our SUKOON Initiative: “No one should sleep hungry or feel forgotten.”

The SUKOON Initiative was launched with the aim of providing relief, comfort, and emotional peace to those living on the margins of society. Whether through food drives, blanket distributions, or health kits, the initiative seeks to bring solace to those who are struggling, particularly during harsh weather or economic hardships.

By donating food on her birthday, Kayra embraced the mission of SUKOON—to be the reason someone breathes a little easier.

On the Ground: Volunteers in Action

The true heart of this initiative lay in its execution. Our volunteers were up early, preparing for the distribution with care and diligence. The food packets, filled with warm, wholesome meals, were lovingly packed and transported to the slum areas of Gwalior City.

  • Kartik and Aryan helped in organizing the logistics and ensuring smooth delivery.

  • Rishav and Rimjhim engaged with the children, making them feel seen and valued.

  • Ankita coordinated communication with the families and made sure no one was left out.

  • Director Mohit Modi offered his heartfelt words of encouragement and gratitude, highlighting how each small act of kindness contributes to a much larger impact.

The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and a spirit of unity. Children eagerly received the food packets, and many clutched them with beaming smiles, grateful for the delicious meal and the attention.

Stories That Stay With Us

One little girl named Rani, just 6 years old, hugged her food packet and said, “Aaj to birthday lag raha hai.” (“It feels like my birthday today.”) These words echoed in the hearts of every volunteer and reminded us all of the deeper value of kindness.

An elderly woman who received food for her grandchildren said with folded hands, “Bhagwan aap sabko khush rakhe.” (“May God keep you all happy.”)

These small interactions are what make our work fulfilling. They are testaments to how direct, human-centered giving can foster connection and dignity.

Why SUKOON Matters

The SUKOON Initiative is more than just a relief program—it is a movement of empathy. Through its various efforts, SUKOON touches lives across Gwalior and beyond. From feeding the homeless and distributing winter essentials to providing urgent supplies during health crises, SUKOON is there to comfort and support.

Kayra’s birthday celebration added a beautiful chapter to SUKOON’s growing legacy. It showed us how anyone—on any day—can choose to bring SUKOON into someone’s life. The name itself, which means peace or comfort, reflects exactly what Kayra achieved through her generosity.

Celebrating Differently: A Growing Trend at ISCI

At the ISCI Foundation, we’ve been privileged to witness a heartening trend—more individuals choosing to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and personal milestones through acts of giving. These celebrations carry a ripple effect. One act of kindness leads to another, inspiring friends, families, and communities to follow suit.

We’ve hosted several birthday donation drives in the past year, but what made this one extra special was the quiet humility with which Kayra approached it. There were no expectations, no announcements—just a desire to give back.

A Message from ISCI Director – Mohit Modi

During the drive, Mr. Mohit Modi shared a heartfelt message:

“The true essence of life lies in giving. Kayra has shown us how a single act, driven by empathy, can bring immense joy—not just to the receivers, but to the givers as well. At ISCI, we believe that every celebration should carry meaning, and today, Kayra has gifted all of us that meaning. This is what SUKOON looks like—a moment where humanity meets action.”

This heartwarming event reminds us that the opportunity to make a difference is always within our reach. We encourage more people to follow Kayra’s example and turn their special days into moments of service and impact. Whether through food, books, clothes, or even time—every contribution counts.

If you would like to celebrate your birthday with us through a Donation Drive, Awareness Program, or Volunteer Event, get in touch. We’ll work with you to ensure your celebration touches lives and becomes a lasting memory for both you and the people you help.

As the day came to a close, the smiles lingered long after the last food packet was handed out. The laughter of children, the gratitude of elders, and the sense of purpose in the hearts of volunteers made this birthday drive a moment to remember.

We thank Kayra once again for choosing compassion over convention, and for reminding us all that joy is multiplied when shared.

The world is in need of more people like Kayra—individuals who choose humanity as their gift. Through the SUKOON Initiative, the ISCI Foundation is committed to creating more such moments of warmth, comfort, and peace.

Let’s continue to make kindness the most beautiful celebration of all.
